I don’t ever remember to review stuff, but felt a need for this thermostat. I bought it in January of 2019. Loved it. It was so easy to install and use...Then I moved and took it with me. I happily installed it. It wouldn’t turn on the AC. I was befuddled. Installing these is easy. I farted around with it for a while, got mad at the world but had to put the old thermostat back in because I just had too much to do with the new house and it was too hot... figured I’d circle back to it later. Couple months go by, it’s a lazy Sunday and I thought I’d try again. Nope. But I’m looking at the makers website and see a customer service number. I was on hold for a little while but when I got through, I got the help I needed. The rep was patient. Determined the unit has gone bad and he ordered me a replacement as it was still under warranty.Got the replacement a week later, installed in a few minutes. Works great. Now if I can get it to control a humidifier...I hear that it does that now. And these things automatically perform firmware updates.Order one.
Really love our new progammable, touch-screen, digital thermostat from Emerson. The Sensi is very simple in operation and very elegant in design. It tells me immediately at a glance what mode it's in (cooling, heating, or auto), and the screen color shows when it is activated to heat/cool/stand-by with reddish, blue, and gray. We love that we can place it in auto mode during this time of seasonal transition to set thresholds of low and high temp to come on for heating or cooling automatically. It gives the inside humidity, time of day, setting, and actual temp all on one screen without having to go through the menus. We just started using it and haven't set up any schedules or geo-fencing, but will be trying those features soon. The only issue I had, was since my last older digital thermostat did not have the c-wire hooked up, I had to find an unused wire in the bundle of wires coming out of the wall and also open up the control board panel on my furnace to hook up the same color wire there too. Once I did that, it worked perfectly. Highly recommend!
When I first installed this, I noted that the blower and he furnace started at the same time, which my old thermostat did not. It worked in stages. I contacted Sensei tech support and they gave me the correct programming to make it work so the furnace fires to heat the plenum, then when it reaches right temp, the blower starts so it is not blowing all the cold air directly in to the house from the ducts. Will be a big savings in fuel costs.Thank you for contacting Sensi Technical Support. Based on the information you provided, the thermostat could be configured incorrectly. First, let’s make sure the thermostat is configured correctly for your equipment:• Go to the physical thermostat.• Press “Menu.”• Press "Advanced Set Up."• Press “Set Up HVAC Equipment.”• Press “Change settings.”• If you have a heat pump, choose “HP1.” If you have an air conditioning unit, choose "AC1.” If you have more than one stage cooling, change this to “HP2” or “AC2” to represent this.o If you have a wire in Y, but not Y2, you have single stage.o If you have a wire in Y and Y2, you have more than one stage of cooling.• If you have a gas furnace, oil burner, or boiler system, choose "GA1" which represents a single stage gas/boiler heating system. If you have an electric furnace, this should be set to "EL1." If you have more than one stage, change this to "GA2" or "EL2” to represent this.o If you have a wire in W/E, but not W2, you have single stage.o If you have a wire in W/E and W2, you have more than one stage of heating.• Once you've selected the choice that best describes your equipment, press “Save” to leave the menu.If it does not solve your issue, please give our Sensi Technical Support team a call at 1-888-605-7131, 7:00am – 7:00pm CST, Monday-Friday, and 8:00am – 5:00pm CST, Saturday-Sunday. Thank you again, and have a great day!The internet connection does work. I was able to preheat the house as I was returning form North Carolina after a cold snap. Oh what a nice feature! Can't wait for the summer with AC getting home from work.Sensei also sends me a report of heating/cooling every month so I can see furnace utilization and average temp/humidity of house.
I have had this thermostat installed 8 months, so I can say that it has saved me substantial amounts of energy. I have tracked my home electrical usage since we moved in 30 years ago. We have an all electric house with a heat pump for heating and cooling. Things change. Incandescent bulbs replaced with CFL than LED, old TVs replaced with LED flat panels, etc., so just a month to month comparison doesn't work, but long term trends do. One consistent consumer is our heat pump. The current one is now over 10 years old, so we have a good amount of consumption data. Comparing months with the same average temperature, our consumption is down between 10 and 20% per day. It is hard to say exactly why since we don't meter just the heat pump, but there is a solid signal showing a step down on consumption after we installed this thermostat, which was the only change at that time. Our local electric company provided a rebate for installing a new thermostat, so the net cost was minimal. Check with your local utility to see if they offer rebates. It's also nice to ask Alexa to change the setting if we want.
I purchased two units, as we have an upstairs and downstairs thermostats. I was replacing old thermostats that were next to impossible to program. These old thermostats had batteries, so when I installed the new Sensi WiFi Thermostats, I had to connect a "C" Wire, aka common wire. This wire gives you ongoing electricity. The instructions were easy to understand, and finding the C terminal on our heater was also easy to find and connect. I did receive one defective unit. I called Sensi Support. They walked me through resetting the unit, and determining it was defective, and instructed me to go back to to do the replacement, which was very easy. Everything works and looks great. Yes, looks are SUPER important. This unit is much better looking than the other Wifi Thermostats..
